Reclaimed wood from the Saskatchewan prairies.
I woodburnt this elk and 2 sparrows on reclaimed wood from my family’s 100+ year old farming settlement in Southern Saskatchewan. The wooden diamond in the center actually came from a meat-smoking shack, the sea-foam green from an old picket fence post, and the dark browns from an old, remote school house. So many treasures and cool colors to find among the ancient wooden structures. The iridescent gold mandala in this piece is my favorite part. At some angles it’s very subtle and blends into the wood, but when it catches the light it absolutely illuminates.
