Fungus Among Us

Reclaimed wood from the Saskatchewan prairies

If you haven’t seen Fantastic Fungi with Paul Stamets, I seriously could not recommend it enough. I personally had never fully understood what a vital part fungi and mycelium play in, well… everything. After watching that film I walked away with a lot of respect for those funky little lifeforms. This is my first built and burned tribute to all of those ridiculously essential organisms. Standing 19 inches tall, 5 inches wide, and 1.25 inches deep, this artwork that is completely made from reclaimed wood also features some preserved moss for that extra forest-floor effect. (Preserved moss is chemically treated (non-toxic) to keep its earthy green colours.)
