Reclaimed wood from the Saskatchewan prairies
I’m a big fan of sunsets, (I mean… who isn’t) but sunrises… those have a different and intoxicating magic to them. There’s something about that awakening of the day’s first light and the symphony of life it brings into action. Such a peaceful and beautiful daily event. Plus, in my experience, outdoor sunrises need to be earned (summer sunrises at least). You either need to stay up all night or wake up ridiculously early to catch the magic – especially if you’re trying to witness it in an elevated spot. Totally worth it.
They always make my heart feel really full when I manage to show up for one, so I named this piece in honour of that moment when the light breaks through the darkness – The grand opening of a blank canvas for another day of existence.
